Seminyak is a well-known coastal town in Bali. It's located precisely between the bustling Kuta and the hipster region of Canggu, but it immediately has a different vibe. Despite the pleasant hustle and bustle, we find Seminyak a very nice region. This is mainly due to the enormous number of restaurants, shops, and hotels. As a result, there is always something to experience on every street. It is therefore definitely recommended to stay here for a few days! TIP: it is close to Bali airport, so it's easiest to stay here directly after your flight, or before your departure.
#1 Potato Head
Desa Potato Head is perhaps the biggest hotspot in Seminyak Bali, and we understand why 100%, because we have been fans of this beach club for years! The entrance alone is impressive. You walk through an enormous hand-woven bamboo tunnel, where they show how they use recycled materials. It is the only place in Bali we know that is so committed to the environment, which makes this place extra special. In addition, they know exactly how to create the right combination between the traditional Balinese feeling and immense luxury. Everything is perfect here!
You can enter here without an entrance fee to eat or drink, but of course, you can also choose to rent a daybed. Book this well in advance, because they are often fully booked far ahead. Potato Head is located right on Seminyak beach, making it a perfect spot to watch the sunset. You can do this in one of the 3 restaurants. They have a fish restaurant, a Western restaurant, and (our favorite) an Indonesian restaurant called Kaum. This part is just a bit quieter and the food is amazing! For about 150,000 rupiah per dish, you can order the most delicious traditional dishes. Believe us, you won't regret visiting this beach club!
#2 Mano Beachhouse
Perhaps Mano Beachhouse is Seminyak's hidden gem. Secretly, I dare say this is our personal favorite, and we'll tell you why. Mano Beachhouse is a little piece of boho paradise, right in the middle of Seminyak's hustle and bustle and directly on the beach. It's not very well known, so it's always quite quiet at this beach club. The atmosphere is super relaxed, and the interior is to die for! Secretly, we also have many of these items in our shop! Mano's restaurant is always good and not expensive. You can enter without an entrance fee and enjoy at a table or a beanbag. If you want to rent a daybed, you often need to book it in advance. It has been around for several years, and every time we still find this the chillest spot in Seminyak Bali. We'd rather keep this hidden gem to ourselves, but because this gem cannot be missing from the list of Hotspots in Seminyak, we have added this beach club.
#3 Mrs. Sippy
Mrs. Sippy is unique in its kind. It is a pool club instead of a beach club. Pool parties are often held here, so if you enjoy that, our tip is to definitely keep an eye on the agenda and book a spot. It's a large pool club, so if you just want to eat something, there's almost always a free spot.
#4 Nook, Seminyak Bali
Nook certainly belongs on the list of Seminyak hotspots. It has been a well-known spot for delicious lunches among the rice fields for years. The moment you walk in, this place immediately feels familiar. This is because the interior is cozy and inviting. In addition, the view of all the greenery immediately gives a sense of peace, making you secretly not want to leave. Because this restaurant is so popular, they have added to it over the years, so there's always a spot available. Lucky us! The menu is super diverse, from smoothie bowls to nasi goreng. Every food lover will be happy here. Tip: In our list of Hotspots in Canggu, you'll find Milu by Nook, which is Nook's little sister. Also an absolute must-visit if you love this vibe!
#5 La Planca
What to do during sunset? Our tip is to go to La Plancha and sink into one of the brightly colored beanbags. Feet in the sand, a drink in hand, and ultimate enjoyment. What's super fun to know is that the number of spots totally depends on the tide. During high tide (as in the photo below), there's only room for a few beanbags, but during low tide, the entire beach is covered with them. They quickly color the beach and ensure more spots are available. They even light up the parasols and bury the cables in the sand. This way, the entire beach is lit up in the evening, and you can enjoy it until the late hours.
#6 Ku De Ta
Ku De Ta should not be missing from the list of Hotspots in Seminyak Bali, and we'll tell you why. Ku De Ta is perhaps the beach club where it all began. It was, in fact, the first beach club in Seminyak, and this place is still very well-known after all these years. It is often pleasantly quiet there, but the service, food, and view remain amazing.
#7 La Lucciola
Craving a good Italian restaurant in Seminyak? Our tip is to spend an evening at La Lucciola. This beautiful restaurant immediately surprises you with its stunning traditional architecture and its location right on the beach. In the evening, this place transforms into a romantic piece of Bali, where you can sweetly dream away as the sun dips into the sea. It's the perfect spot for a night out combined with good Italian food. The price is a bit higher than the street-side restaurants in Seminyak, but comparable to the other beach clubs on the beach. So, if you don't know what to do one evening? Go to La Lucciola! Psst... make sure to book in advance, as it often fills up quickly.
#8 Kynd
Kynd is perhaps the hotspot in Seminyak where most Instagram photos are taken. They went viral because of their pink wall and Insta-worthy lunch dishes. The menu also comes with a QR code, allowing you to see what all the dishes look like beforehand. From smoothie bowls to pancakes, you'll be spoiled for choice for lunch here. The service here is also truly fantastic, and they immediately ask for your name. This immediately gives you a very familiar feeling, so they do that very well. So, if you don't know what to do in Seminyak for lunch? Our tip is to go to Kynd sometime.
#9 Revolver
Revolver is known for the best coffee in town. The place is quite strange and exciting, because when you walk into the alley, you don't see much more than a doorman and a closed door. You can't see at all what's behind it or how big the restaurant is, but it will surprise you. When you walk inside, it's much bigger than you'd think from the outside. The coffee is indeed very good, but we found the food a bit mediocre compared to other restaurants. But you get spoiled very quickly in Bali, because generally the food is of such high quality that you quickly start to expect nothing less than the best. Despite that, we wanted to mention this place because it has been known as a hotspot in Seminyak for many years. TIP: This is a good place to go if the weather is not so good, because you are indoors in this restaurant.
#10 Rent a scooter in Seminyak Bali
The best way to explore these hotspots is by renting a scooter. It's really not expensive, often between 65,000 and 100,000 Rupiah per day. That's no more than €7.50 per day. A liter of petrol in Bali costs less than €0.70, and the scooter is also quite fuel-efficient!
Ask the reception of your hotel or your Airbnb contact person for a scooter, and it's easily arranged. Often, you don't even need to show your passport or anything, and you just get the keys.
In Bali, you'll always get a motor scooter, which has more power than you might be used to from scooters in the Netherlands. But that's the standard here. You'll also need it if you plan a trip to, for example, Ubud or the north of Bali. Be careful, and everything will be fine!
